It’s been ages, I’m sorry, all change here at Laundry, I’ve left my job, (YIKES), to start a nutritional brand and set up a beauty marketing consultancy. Very exciting but it’s given me much less time to blog.
I also had a dreamy caribbean holiday back in Feb which was a memorable fortnight BUT made my pigmentation go nuts. So annoying, I wore a hat and reapplied factor fifty every hour and didn’t sunbathe once - to no avail, just being out and about and swimming was enough to bring it all out.
Taking matters into hand, I spoke to the lovely Dee at the Medical Aesthetic group and got the contact details for Reynaldo at the Clearlight Clinic who said he would take me in hand and sort it out.
The Process:
ME LINE is a controlled chemical dermabrasion which uses acids to peel the top layers of skin.
The process includes preparation, peel and then home aftercare at home with products that are designed to designed to control pigmentation, decrease melanin production, promote renewal of skin cells, improve sun damage and even out the tone and colour of the skin.
Step One:
Skin preparation includes cleansing, degreasing the skin to aid absorption and layers of a use of special compound to prepare the skin for the peel. BTW, you can really see how bad the pigmentation is here.
Step Two:
The ME LINE peel mask is then applied to the face with thicker application on areas requiring a stronger treatment such as areas of hyperpigmentation, fine lines or acne. This is left on for a certain amount of time depending on the level of peel you need. I left the clinic with it on (not too scary looking, just a little shiny and rinsed it off two hours later.
Step Three:
Peeling starts on day two but my skin did feel a little red and tight straight after. Aftercare begins on day three, until then a gentle touch is needed with the skins, gentle cleansing, barrier creams and plenty of hydration (Epionce products really come into their own when the skin is traumatised). On day three the homecare begins, I came home armed with two ME LINE aftercare products: A day liquid - for use specifically on areas of concern (which you need to use carefully, it's a watery liquid so goes everywhere and it can really sting!) and and a ME LINE night cream which I use all over the face. Sunscreen MUST be used everyday, it should be worn every single day but post treatment the skin is fragile and even more susceptible to damage.
Before and Afters:
A second peel is recommended 8 weeks after the first but three weeks later i can already see a huge improvement. The stronger areas of pigmentation are breaking up and fading and my skin tone is much more even. Apologies the light is really different on the before and afters, the befores were in clinic with no natural light and the after is in my kitchen in bright sunlight!
Where i had the peel: Clearlight Clinic
How much was it: £224 for one peel and two take home products
