Power up your Monday

It’s taken me a while to kick off this blog, it feels scary putting yourself out there, but on a rainy Monday afternoon I wrote this for a first post:

Surviving Monday afternoons, three tips for turning a low energy Monday into a spring board for your entire week

Even though I love my job, I find Monday’s hard, especially that post lunch lull where energy is low and the most attractive option is reaching for a handful of ever present Haribo and having another espresso. I’m trying to change this mind-set of dread into one of positivity so have devised three things I now do on Mondays to help me feel like I’ve achieved

1) Using Monday lunch to set out some goals for the week (rather than spending it on the sidebar of shame or radar online). These could be anything, from a practical to-do list to a intention to not eat quite so many sweets this week. Doing this made me feel slightly clearer and organised for the week.

2) Do ten minutes of something that ‘improves’ you. This is a loose one, it could be a walk around the block, ten minutes with a mindfulness app or a quick stretch and bend. Yesterday, I spent ten mins on my Duolingo language app, it felt good.

3) Breathe - no, seriously hear me out. When i’m stressed or tense i shallow breathe. Spending just one minute taking myself through this breathing exercise leaves me feeling sharper, less tense and calmer.

Any other tips or tricks to help power up your week?
